Terms of use

The agreement.

Using CartoMath means agreeing to what follows. It is short on purpose. If any of it is unclear, ask at hello@cartomath.com.

Who agrees

The site is provided under the name CartoMath by one person. An adult account is made by a parent, guardian, teacher or tutor. Students aged 13 or over may have their own student account; being eligible for a student account does not make a minor an adult. Whoever makes the account is responsible for what is done with it and for the child profiles under it.

What the site is

A map of the accelerated math pathway with study sheets, worked examples, practice questions, mock papers and a board to work on. It is a study aid. It is not a school, does not award anything, and does not replace a teacher. The curriculum follows published sequences but is not endorsed by any school, district or publisher.

i-Ready is a product of Curriculum Associates, and Dimensions Math a product of Singapore Math Inc. They are named only to say which course a part of the map follows; neither has reviewed, endorsed or licensed CartoMath.

The account

  • Keep the password to yourself. Anything done while signed in counts as done by you.
  • One person, one account. Children under 13 are profiles under an adult's account, never accounts of their own.
  • You may delete the account at any time from the account page. Everything under it goes with it, at once.

The family plan

  • The free plan costs nothing and has no time limit. The family plan is $12 a month or $99 a year, in US dollars, charged in advance through our payment provider to the card you give it, and it renews on its own until you stop it.
  • Stop it any time from the account page. It runs to the end of the period already paid for, and no further charge is made.
  • A yearly plan cancelled within fourteen days of paying is refunded in full. Otherwise payments are not refunded, except where the site was unavailable for most of a paid month, in which case that month is.
  • If the price changes, you are told by email at least thirty days before it applies to you, and the price you joined at is kept for as long as the plan is not interrupted.
  • Taxes, where they apply, are added at checkout and shown before you pay.

Fair use

The sheets, examples and questions are for the people on your account to learn from. Do not copy the curriculum to republish it, scrape the site, share an account across households, or try to get into anyone else's data. A teacher's account may be used with their class under a school licence, agreed by email.

Whose it is

The map, the writing, the questions and the drawings are ours. Your results are yours: we keep them only to show them back to you, and you can take them with you or delete them at any time.

What is promised, and what is not

We work to keep the site up, the questions right and the data safe, and we say what we do with the data on the privacy page. Beyond that the site is offered as it is. We are not liable for a mark on a test, a lost session, or any indirect loss, and in any case for more than what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits what the law will not let us limit.

Ending it

You may leave at any time by deleting the account. We may close an account that breaks the fair-use rules above, after a warning by email unless the breach is serious, and refund any unused part of a paid period. If the site itself ever closes, every account is told at least sixty days ahead and can export its results first.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of the United States, and disputes go to its courts, after first trying to sort it out by email. If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and every account is told by email at least thirty days ahead.
